Desktops vs Laptops

If you’re ready to upgrade, you should consider if you are going to continue to use desktops or is switching over to laptops and/or tablets is the better option. This is all going to depend on your individual needs.

Ask yourself these questions:

Do you need more to be connected to a network?

“Do you need a lot of memory/storage (RAM)?

“Is portability essential?”

If you’re a small business with less than 10 employees, laptops and/or tablets are probably a better option for you.

Used in conjunction with docking stations, they will give you the best of both worlds.

  • The docking station allows the worker the mobility of the laptop with the same access as a networked desktop and allows you to not worry about running low on battery.

  • Laptop docking stations allow the notebook to communicate with a local printer, larger storage or backup drives, and possibly other devices that are not usually taken along with a notebook computer.

  • Whenever it’s docked, it will be charging. The laptop docking station is connected to a power supply, and this is connected to the laptop through a cable or wireless connection.

  • In the electronic life that we now live in, imagine the freedom you will gain, not being tethered to a desk. Not to mention the bonus to your workers of being able to work from home when their kids are sick or the weather is too dangerous for travel into the office.

  • Most laptops will let you easily add RAM and swap out the hard drive when needed.
